Blue Dive – COVID 19 Safety plan
Good news we are open, but we may take a little longer then usual replying as we’ve slightly reduced our office hours.
If COVID prevents travel we offer a full refund or we can hold your deposit on file for 18 months.
At Blue Dive Port Douglas, your safety is our priority now more than ever with the Covid pandemic still looming.
We are following all Queensland Government Covid safety plan recommendations.
On arrival you will be asked to fill in a questionnaire about your previous travel.
We reserve the right to deny travel to anyone with expected Coronavirus exposure. You MUST NOT attend if you have ANY symptoms potentially consistent with COVID-19. (fever, flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat, fatigue and shortness of breath).
Do contact us ahead of arrival if you have been overseas within the last 14 days, have been exposed to coronavirus or have any symptoms. Our usual cancellation policies apply.
Please respect and follow directions of your instructor and boat crew, we have implemented new measures to reduce the transmissions of the virus as well as abiding by the latest social distancing practices.
Change to normal safety procedures:
The COVID 19 virus has meant significant changes have been made to all reef companies in order to make our services as safe as possible.
We are taking the current health crisis very seriously and will always put your health and safety at the forefront of our operations.
Safety for our customers is a very high priority at Blue Dive and the vessels we use for our divers and snorkelers.
In addition to our Diving safety plan, we have brought in a few new COVID specific safety procedures. These measures are designed to help you feel safe when you travel with us or our associated companies.
We ask all our divers and snorkelers to assist us in maintaining physical distancing whilst travelling on boats and in vehicles.
To help in maintaining physical distancing there are markers on the boats and the buses and boats we use have been assessed for maximum capacity, adhering to social physical distancing guidelines and we will be strictly complying with these measures.
Blue Dive staff and all boat staff all have hand sanitiser for use. We would also ask everyone to refrain from handshakes, hugs and unnecessary contact.
Payments will be taken in advance of booking to avoid direct contact. On the boats, staff will wear gloves and masks wherever possible.
All boats that we use have increased their cleaning protocols and the same is the case with road vehicles. All frequently used areas are regularly cleaned and sanitized as per the local health department guidelines.
Prior to travelling with us, you will be required to provide a current phone number and residential address (address of accommodation if travelling) and your full name in order to complete your activity. When you travel with us, your personal data may be provided to official government bodies to help stop the spread of any health outbreaks. We encourage all staff and travellers to download the CovidSafe app to assist in this process.
All Blue Dive led trips are private groups:
All Blue Dive led PADI courses, introductory dives and dive trips for qualified divers are privately guided.
When on boats like Poseidon, Silversonic or Calypso, there will be other divers on board but we will operate as a private group socially distancing from others as much as possible. All divers and snorkelers will be allocated sanitised equipment that they must keep for personal use for the whole day.
And of course the best way to socially distance is to book a totally private Blue Dive private charter, funds permitting of course.
Non Blue Dive led trips:
If we are booking you to dive in slightly wider groups with the staff of Poseidon, Calypso or Silversonic, please note that all vessels have excellent COVID – Safe plans, please follow all instructions.

Of course if any passenger indicates any symptoms associated with COVID 19 or they refuse to comply with our safety plans, we reserve the right to refuse boarding. We have to maintain this for everyone’s safety. We are sure all our customers will appreciate the need for this policy.
