When you learn digital underwater photography with Blue Dive, we’ll take you to some of the best Great Barrier Reef sites on the Agincourt Ribbon Reefs. Located on the edge of Australia’s continental shelf, the Agincourt Reef system has excellent underwater visibility, which kicks starts and enhances the opportunity to take simply amazing photographs. The reef sites are known for their excellent and vibrant coral cover and diversity and abundance of marine life, so again, providing the perfect subject matter for your underwater photography. Our Port Douglas digital underwater photography courses include 3 dives and plenty of coaching on how to get great shots, including professional tips on photographic principles, composition, flash/available light photography and camera-handling. Our PADI dive instructor will also teach you how to plan and organize your underwater photography sessions, covering procedures, techniques, problems and some of the hazards of underwater photography diving.
In total, you will complete 3 scuba dives, all of which are privately guided by a PADI dive instructor. All dive equipment included. You need to bring your own underwater camera, or they can be rented from Blue Dive for $75 per day.
To participate in this course you must already be a certified scuba diver and have successfully completed the relevant PADI eLearning, prior to course commencement. PADI eLearning costs are in addition to our course fee and are payable directly to PADI. The minimum age for participants is 12 years old. There are medical requirements for those wanting to scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef. By law you will need to complete a Queensland Government Medical Declaration confirming good health. Please note that certain conditions, including asthma and heart problems, may preclude you from diving. Please see our medical page for further information.
Please Note: The current safety regulations require an 18-hour surface interval between diving and flying. All diving would be completed by 2.30pm, so any flights could be booked for departure any time, after 8.30am on the following day.
All of our underwater photography courses include a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef, your own private tutor, scuba diving, equipment hire and a hot and cold buffet lunch. You need to bring your own underwater camera – or they can be rented from Blue Dive at a cost of $75 per day. Cancellations: For peace of mind please take out travel insurance in case you need to cancel your course. Cancellations must be made at least 5 days before your first dive day, in which case you will incur a $100 per booking administration fee to cover costs. Additional cancellation fees apply if cancellation made less than 5 days before your first dive day. As a small dive centre – all services and staff are arranged to order – and we require at least 5 days to have a chance to resell the spaces. Please note your credit card may be charged for the balance due.
