PADI Open Water Referral Port Douglas – privately taught in Blue Dive style
Get the theory and pool sessions completed at your PADI dive centre at home and then complete your scuba diving course on the magnificent Great Barrier Reef with us.

Important medical information for the Open Water Referral
By Australian Law (2013) each Open Water student needs to complete a medical declaration that they are medically healthy or in several very important cases obtain a medical clearance from a physician.
If you do not have any medical issues and can answer “no” to the 3 questions below you DO NOT need a medical.
You WILL need a medical examination from a physician if you:
1. Have any medical conditions mentioned in this Queensland Government Medical Declaration.
2. Are over 45 years old.
3. Have a body mass index(BMI) over 30 (linked BMI chart) and a waist circumference greater than 102cms for males and 88cms for females.
This is both sensible and law in Australia. If you need a medical we would strongly encourage you to get it in your country/city of origin. Here is the appropriate PADI form that would need completing.
Please note that active asthma within the last 10 years will probably prevent you from diving.
Flying after diving restrictions
Please note that AFTER diving, current safety regulations require a 24 hour surface interval before flying. So you can fly any time after 2.30pm the following day.
This is a PADI safety regulation.
