PADI Scuba Diver Course
Got a sense of adventure and want to see the reef from below and gain an internationally recognised PADI diving certification but don’t have time for the four day Open Water course? Then this 2 day course is for you.
We have a policy of only taking a maximum of 5 on PADI Scuba Diver courses as it means we can give expert and individual attention to each student – it’s a bit like the small school classes issue. It’s much, much better for the learning to dive experience.
Learn in style
With some of the best learn to dive facilities in Queensland, you will be sped out on Poseidon or Calypso, the sleek and fast catamarans to the outer Great Barrier Reef –and a brilliant place to complete your course in style – but only after skills training in our tropically-styled Port Douglas pool.
This is a 2 day course. 8.30 – 4.30 for the first pool day. 7.45 – 4.30 for the second day on the catamaran.
What does the course involve?
This short course involves pool dives, skills training, theory and two dives on the outer Great Barrier Reef.
You will need to complete the first 3 sections of PADI Elearning – Start today
What will you be qualified to do upon completion?
You will be internationally qualified to dive to 12 metres under the direct supervision of a PADI professional. A further two day upgrade with us or any other PADI centre worldwide will give you the full Open Water certification.
We can arrange courses for just you or your nominated group if you feel you would benefit from private tuition.
Important medical information for the Open Water course
By Australian Law (2013) each Open Water student needs to complete a medical declaration that they are medically healthy or in several very important cases obtain written medical clearance from a physician.
If you do not have any medical issues and can answer “no” to the 3 questions below you DO NOT need a medical.
You WILL need a medical examination from a physician if you:
1. Have any medical conditions mentioned in this Queensland Government Medical Declaration.
2. Are over 45 years old.
3. Have a body mass index(BMI) over 30 (linked BMI chart) and a waist circumference greater than 102cms for males and 88cms for females.
This is both sensible and law in Australia. If you need a medical we would strongly encourage you to get it in your country/city of origin. Here is the appropriate PADI form that would need completing .
Please note that active asthma within the last 10 years will probably prevent you from diving.
This website will help you find a doctor within Australia that is qualified to complete your medical if needed.
Price includes full equipment hire, logbook, local transfers, high speed catamaran trip to the Outer Great Barrier Reef on Poseidon or AquaQuest with full lunch buffet on the boat.
The PADI eLearning is an additional cost payable directly to PADI ($202 + GST in 2018). You will need to complete the first 3 sections of PADI Elearning – Start today!
