Port Douglas Private Charter Boats and Catamarans
We have access to a range of vessels, giving Blue Dive the ability to cater to different size groups and requirements. Contact Us to discuss your private charter requirements and we can recommend just the right vessel and itinerary for the perfect Great Barrier Reef private charter experience.
See below for further details on several of the private charter vessels we commonly use.
Day charters start at $3750.
Saltaire – superfast for getting around the reefs.
The beauty of this boat is that it is super fast opening up a huge range of possibilities for diving even on days trips.
We can stop for lunch for example on your own – usually private – Sand Cay! And incredible experience (Mark Fraenkel, owner Blue Dive).
For a small $250 fuel supplant we can even speed you up to dive Endeavour Reef where Captain Cook’s ship, The Endeavour, hit the reef and made history in 1770. Nearby we can visit uninhabited Hope Island (named by Cook), and even have the possibility, at a secret location, of snorkelling wth schooling mantas if we are lucky.
We’d recommend a maximum of 4 divers or 8 snorkelers – Gourmet home cooked lunch included prawns, meats and French cheeses.
Cruising speed 22 knots, speed when going to Captain Cook territory 30 knots.
16.5 metres (54ft)- With a cruising speed of approximately 15 knots.
MV Monsoon is modern and comfortable, with a choice of spacious lounge and deck areas to enjoy on your reef day. The dive deck sits just inches above the waterline, making entries and exits a breeze, and the onboard tender makes drift dives and accessing hard-to-reach dive sites a possibility.
Guided snorkelling included for those who aren’t diving.
Gourmet lunch, canapés, cheese platter and seasonal tropical fruit selection, non-alcoholic beverages. You’re welcome to bring your own beer and wine onboard.
Monsoon’s skipper has a wealth of local knowledge that guarantees the best possible sites on the day of your private charter. The experienced crew pamper you with friendly personal service as you cruise superb reefs, dive and snorkel in the warm tropical waters.
Up 10 passengers (maximum 8 divers for comfort).
Zulu – State of the art.
16.4 metres (54 ft) luxury vessel with a very fast cruising speed of 24 knots.
Zulu is a custom-built luxury vessel with a Seakeeper gyroscope to keep the boat very steady, even in windy weather, making it a great vessel for June, July and August when it can be a little windier and other boats can become uncomfortable. Its faster cruising speed makes it possible to reach more distant outer Great Barrier Reef dive sites.
Zulu features the Twindisc Express Joystick system which can hold the vessel in any fixed position, crab the boat diagonally or straight sideways and rotate it 360° on its axis. This feature makes it perfect for getting to dive sites larger boats can’t get into.
The air-conditioned saloon has plenty of comfortable seating, a well-equipped galley for preparing a fresh lunch and great coffee. Fusion surround sound system and slide down window allows you to experience the action on the back deck from the air-conditioned comfort of the saloon.
For liveaboard diver charters, there is a luxurious air-conditioned ensuite cabin plus a smaller air-conditioned double cabin (maximum 4 passengers on overnight trips).
Day trips: Up to 8 passengers (maximum 4 divers)
Minke is part of the same fleet as Zulu and boasts many of the same features such as a fast cruising speed, SeeKeeper gyroscope for a smooth ride and Twindisc control system.
Minke is smaller than Zulu and doesn’t feature a large internal saloon or overnight accommodation but does have a custom-designed dive station for easy gear setup. The open saloon aboard Minke allows guests to easily interact, whether they are kitting up for a dive or simply lazing onboard.
The speed and control features of Minke allow us to access some stunning parts of the Great Barrier Reef.
Minke is a great option for smaller groups or those wanting to keep costs down.
Up to 7 passengers (maximum 4 divers).
Liquid Desire – dive at a leisurely pace!
Treat yourself to the ultimate Great Barrier Reef adventure aboard your own 55ft luxury sailing catamaran!
Liquid Desire was purpose-built for sailing the Great Barrier Reef and features all conveniences you will need on a liveaboard dive trip from Port Douglas. She can comfortably sleep 6 in a range of cabins and the huge saloon can seat 20 people.
Excellent meals will be served on board with the chef specialising in fine seafarers cuisine. Imagine appetizers of fresh seafood or a chilled papaya salad, followed by a tuna curry, chilli mud crab or a grilled crayfish.
Being a sailing catamaran, Liquid Desire is much slower than the above boats and we wouldn’t usually use it for day charters. We would recommend Liquid Desire for multi-day dive and snorkel liveaboard trips to the Ribbon Reefs, Cod Hole and Lizard Island – some of the most spectacular parts of the Great Barrier Reef!
Argo Expeditions – Superb for 3 day trips upwards
Sleeps 14. Great boat for 3 day trips upwards. Trips of 7/8 days can take in the Cod Hole, Lizard Island and Osprey Reef. Super for Minke whale trips every June.
Argo is a very well appointed, comfortable vessel suitable for extended live aboard charters. She has a full commercial galley, plush saloon and dining area, laundry facilities, 2 dive compressors and plenty of deck space.
Sprit Luxury Charters – The Jewel in the Crown
This is probably Australia’s most prestigious private charter Superyacht. We don’t know any better boat.
Please email for further details. Only available for minimum 3 night charters. Range Osprey Reef, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands.
