All of our Port Douglas PADI Advanced courses are privately taught. This ensures students receive individualised attention, with plenty of time for questions and instruction. You complete your theory through PADI eLearning, prior to commencing the course, and your practical dives over 2 separate day trips to the Great Barrier. When you book your advanced dive course with Blue Dive, you’ll travel to the Great Barrier Reef in style on Silversonic, a stable, modern reef catamaran. Your destination, and the place you’ll complete your skill tests, are on the amazing Agincourt Ribbon Reefs. Here you’ll complete 5 training dives over 2 separate day tours, including the necessary deep water dive (which for adults is around 30m and 21m for divers aged between 12-14 years old).
The reef sites we visit have great underwater visibility, paired with excellent coral over and an abundance of marine life. Our boat of choice has a first-class dive deck, with easy giant stride water entry. A hot and cold buffet lunch and morning and afternoon tea are included. When you choose to continue your scuba diving journey with Blue Dive, you’ll be diving in style.
The PADI advanced course Port Douglas is one of our most popular dive courses, other than the initial learn to dive course. It is suitable for those with existing entry level certification, being PADI Open Water Diver or PADI Junior Open Water Diver, and you must be a minimum of 12 years of age. As well as the Deep Dive and Navigation Dive, you will complete 3 other dives conjunction with this course, which might include Underwater Naturalist, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Drift Diving or Digital Underwater Photography. During the course you’ll expand your diving experience and knowledge, enabling you to dive in more challenging environments and depths, around the world. As above, you will need to have completed the theory in advance, through PADI eLearning. The cost of this is in addition to the Blue Dive course and is payable direct to PADI. The 2 Great Barrier Reef days start with a meet and greet at the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina Port Douglas, at around 7.45am and end around 4.30pm.
To participate in the Blue Dive PADI advanced course Port Douglas, it’s a requirement that you have an existing entry level certification (Open Water) and have successfully completed the PADI eLearning, prior to course commencement. The minimum age for participants is 12 years old. There are medical requirements for those wanting to scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef. By law participants will need to complete a Queensland Government Medical Declaration, confirming good health. Please note that certain conditions, including asthma and heart problems, may preclude you from scuba diving. Please see our medical page for further information.
Please Note: The current safety regulations require an 18-hour surface interval between diving and flying. All diving would be completed by 2.30pm, so any flights could be booked for departure any time after 8.30am on the following day. For more information please visit our medical page.
Blue Dive is passionate about scuba diving and our PADI advanced course Port Douglas is pure diving. Over 2 days on the Great Barrier Reef, your private instructor will safely introduce you to depths down to 30m (or 21m if you are aged between 12-14 years old). They’ll teach you the art of underwater navigation, with 3 other dive specialties of your choice included. These courses run on demand throughout the year, so please email or call us for availability. Cancellations: For peace of mind please take out travel insurance in case you need to cancel your course. Cancellations must be made at least 5 days before your first dive day, in which case you will incur a $100 per booking administration fee to cover costs. Additional cancellation fees apply if cancellation made less than 5 days before your first dive/snorkel day. As a small dive centre – all services and staff are arranged to order – and we require at least 5 days to have a chance to resell the spaces. Please note your credit card may be charged for the balance due.
